Lines that Lingered

I read all the books i can get my hands on, every chance I get. If I'm lucky, and it's a good book i come across quotes that cuts right through me. Here are some of them:

"if you can get 10 minutes, 10 weeks, or ten months of happiness, take it. Anytime you can get it, take it, cause some folks check out of here and don't even get that 10 minutes because they were either too scared to open up to other possibilities or only saw problems instead of oppurtunities. You don't have tomorrow promised to you. You just don't fucking know." -Maisha
--How Stella Got Her Groove Back; Terry McMillan--

"Some things are like that. There's no lesson to be learned, no explanation that will help. Sometimes no explanation, peroid. In the end, all you're left with is yourself. And if you're lucky the understanding of a friend or two." -Caroline Clark Masters
--The Final Judgement; Richord North Patterson--

"When you love someone for a long time, when that love is cemented in routine as well as thrill, her very presence fill too much presence to be ignored." -Alex Delaware
--Dr.Death; Jonathan Kellerman--

"Man has places in his heart which do not yet exist, and into them enters suffering in order that they may have existence." - Leon Bloy

"There's nothing discreditable about jealousy,( ), I always salute it as the mark of true love." -Mr.Savage

"Hatred seems to operate the same glands as love. it even produces the same actions. If we had not been taught how to interpret the story of the passion, would we have been able to say in their actions alone whether it was the jealous Judas or the cowardly Peter who loved Christ?" -Maurice Bendrix

"You needn't be scared. Love doesn't end just because we don't see each other.. ( ) people go on loveing God, don't they, all their lives even without seeing Him?" Sarah
--The End of the Affair; Graham Greene--

"Our hearts sometimes see what our hearts wish were true." -Cardinal Mortati
--Angels & Demons; Dan Brown--

"The measure of your faith is the measure of the pain you can endure." -the Teacher
--The Da Vinci Code; Dan Brown--

"It's the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting." -Santiago

"Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should live their lives, but none about his or her own." -Santiago

"...people are capable, at any time in their lives, of doing what they dream of." -Old Man/King of Salem

"When each day is the same as the next, it's because people fail to recognize the good things that happen in their lives everyday that the sun rises." -Santiago

"When you really want something, the universe always conspires to your favor." -Old Man/King of Salem

"One is loved because one is loved. No reason is needed for loving." - Fatima

"You will never be able to escape from your heart. So it's better to listen to what it has to say." -the Alchemist

"The darkest hour of the night came just before the dawn." -Spanish Proverb

"There is only one thing that makes a dream impodible to achieve: the fear of failure." - the Alchemist

"When we love, we always strive to be better than we are." -Santiago
--The Alchemist; Paulo Coelho--

"We're all going to get either cancer or heart disease. There are two human types basically, poeple who bottle their emotions up and people who let it all come roaring out. Introverts and extroverts if you prefer. intorverts, as is well known, tend to internalize their emotions, their rage and self contempt, and their internalization, it is equally well known, produces cancer. Extroverts, on the other hand, let joyous rip, rage at the world, divert their self-contempt on to others, and this over exertion, by logical process, causes heart attacks. It's one or the other. now I happen to be an extrovert, so if I compensate by smoking this will keep me a perfectlt healthy human being. ( ). On top of which, I'm addicted to nicotine, and that makes it easier to smoke." - Oliver Russel

"Memory is an act of will, and so is forgetting." -Oliver Russell

"It's a sort of primitive law of survival-find someone worse off than yourself and beside them you will blossom." -Stuart Hughes
--Talking It Over; Julian Barnes--

"Sometimes when you sacrifice something precious, you're not really losing it. You're just passing it on to someone else." - Captian

"Love, like rain, can nourish from above, drenching couples with a soaking joy. But sometimes under the hungry heat of life, love dries on the surface and must nourish from below, tending to its roots, keeping itself alive."

"Lost love is still love. It takes a different form, that's all. You can't see their smile or bring them food or tousle their hair or move them around a dance floor. But when those senses weaken, another heightens. memory. Memory becomes your partner. You nurture it, you hold it. You dance with it." -Marguerite

"The secret of heaven: that each affects the other and the other affects the next, and the world is full of stories, but the stories are all one."
-- Five People You Meet in Heaven; Mitch Bom--
