How to Survive Hell Week..

How to Survive Hell Week Without Looking Like a Zombie

If you know the answer to this please let me in on the goss.

it was one of THOSE weeks when all you think about is how to get through the week without wanting to drink a whole bottle of nail polish remover.

I had 3 essays to write and a major presentation and of course I left it till the last minute to get everything started. I mean.. what else could i have done, really?!!

I got everything done. thankyouverymuch. I couldn't say i did the very best i could. in fact i reckon all the essays i submitted were crap typed with times new roman, 12", 1 1/2 spaced. And i know our presentation didn't blow our tutor away (i know that for a fact because the tutor said the exact words as feedback).

But it's over. And that's all i asked for at the start of the week. I kept on saying "i just want this week to be over" over and over again. and now that it is i kind of wish i tried harder.

And i'd want to say i'll do better next semester.. but then i'd only be lying. so what's the point?

So how do you do it? How do you get through the week of assessments hell with some sanity left and only marginally suicidal?
Well..

1. lock youself up in the room and shackle yourself to the desk and force yourself to face this :

even if all you really want to do with the damn laptop is.. well even if you don't want ANYTHING to do with the blasted thing at all.

don't let yourself out till you spew out at least 1200 words of the 2500 word essay.

2. always remember to take deep breaths.

that way the nicotine doesn't go to waste :P
every puff is a step towards some gory cancer. so at least make it worth it.

3. eat heaps. you need the energy.

besides.. when your hands are full..it keeps you from throwing your laptop out the window.

4. take lots of breaks. it doesn't bode well for you when you just keep on going on even if every bit of you wants to roll over and die.

I found this out when at 4am one night/morning.. i was staring at the laptop wondering how to spell "BECAUSE". I knew right then that it was time to quit.

5. refuse ALL invites to go out. even if you are SO tempted to go out drinking with your friends. Resist the urge to go even "for an hour for a few drinks".

We all know that's just another way of saying.. stay all night and drink till you want to puke. So DON'T. You'll regret it the next day especially when you're pounding on your laptop hoping some half coherent essay would appear before the 5pm deadline of the damned paper.

6. keep the people who make you happy close.

even if all they do is sleep on your bed.. one look at them will stop you from tearing your hair out.

besides.. when you're harassed you need the love. let them cuddle you and smatter you with kisses and tell you you're smart enough to finish an essay 4 hours before it's due.

THEN go back to your essay all revived because you know there's someone who couldn't care less if you win the "fucked up essay writer of the year".

7. when it's all over.. drink, smoke and be happy.

until exam period rolls around that is.

i'm always on the verge of going somewhere else. Not one to settle, i've lived in 7 cities, 4 countries.. and well.. i intend to keep on counting. i live for travelling, shopping, making my parents proud, going to the beach, hanging out with people as insane as i am, boozing and ummm.. having the freedom to be the occasional bum
