I bought a toothbrush, some toothpaste, a flannel for my face
Pyjamas, a hairbrush, new shoes and a case
I said to my reflection. Let's get out of this place.

Tempted by Squeeze

I am off to Manila in a few days. I'm not sure how I feel about it, really. My bestfriend asked me yesterday if I'm excited.. and I didn't know what to say.

I AM excited about the trip. The actual trip. I love being in airports and the feeling that i'm going someplace. I love zipping through the airport with a trolley with my suitcase and handcarry bag on it looking at the other travellers and wondering where they're off to. I don't even mind standing in line to check in because the time seems to be breezing through with the thought that in a couple of short hours you'll be up in the sky towards somewhere.. else. I like looking at other people's luggage and wondering what they deemed important enough to take to another country and guessing what is waiting for them when we touch down. I like how clean and utilitarian airports are and the way people look like they're already off to some exotic destination or an important business meeting. I don't even mind the security checks although I am always a bit antsy on the immigration lines for some reason even if my visas and passport are in order.

I even like stowing my baggage in the overhead bin. Most of the time, there are (taller) people willing to help me get it in there because I seem to always give the I'm too little to do it myself vibe. I love it when we get our own screen and get to choose what movie or TV show to watch; otherwise, I'm content with my book and browsing through the in flight magazines. I like trying to decide at the last minute whether I like tea or coffee and the little cans of soda they offer you.I don't mind the airplane food and I love the little bags of peanuts. I always keep my food plate neat as I don't want the other passengers to think that I am a slob. I hate getting up to go to the loo though, because everyone would look at you as you make your way down the aisle.

I like the touch down and the announcement that the pilot makes when you're on the ground and warning you to stay in your seat. I like seeing the rooftops of the city you're landing in and seeing the contrasts between the city I just left and the one I now find myself in. I like disembarking and thanking the FAs for their help. I don't mind the first burst of air you get when you step off the plane. I love waiting for my suticase to show up on the carousel and being helped taking it off it because I always always struggle with it.

I just love it. Every minute of it. Don't you?

Other things I'm excited about:

~ seeing my nephew I haven't seen for almost a year. He looks so grown up in pictures.

~ being with relatives (my immediate family's not getting there till very close to Christmas which sucks a bit for me coz I miss them heaps)

~ Eating the food. I want lechon, liempo, mangoes, sinigang, kare kare and all the other homecooked meals that I so missed.

~ catching up with friends - over coffee, lunch, dinner, drinks, whatever. I just want to know how everyone is.

~ shopping. shopping. shopping.

~ cheap manicures and pedicures and massages and oh. just being able to afford going to the salon/spa

~ not having to do chores :P

AND LAST but the one that I am most excited about:
beach bumming at the Island Paradise of Panglao, Bohol.

I'm NOT looking forward to:

~ the incredible holiday traffic

~ the crowds in the malls

~ leaving my room, my sanctuary and where all my personal belongings are

~ leaving Jeff.. :(

who's staying here for another two weeks before flying to Cali for Christmas and coming back on the second week of January. That's a total of 6 weeks without him. I am so used to him calling me about 67 times a day and seeing him almost every other day and sometimes more than that. Oh well. Such is life. I'm looking forward to getting goodies from the States though :P

Like it or not. I'll be back in the Philippines in 5 days.

I better get to packing.

i'm always on the verge of going somewhere else. Not one to settle, i've lived in 7 cities, 4 countries.. and well.. i intend to keep on counting. i live for travelling, shopping, making my parents proud, going to the beach, hanging out with people as insane as i am, boozing and ummm.. having the freedom to be the occasional bum
