My Life in Four Corners

was watching oprah this lazy afternoon.. She had nate over as her guest - the house decorating guru and yummy boy extra ordinaire. She also had this woman over, her name was martha something (i forget.. she looked a tad bit funny though) and this woman was saying a lot of sensible things that got me thinking.

She said that your room reflects your life. She had people think of three adjectives that best describe their rooms and the three adjectives would reflect what your life is like. So i had a think about that and the 3 words i came up with to describe my room are: Feminine, LOOKS organized and the last adjective is it is MINE.

Well.. it's obviously feminine. my room's awash with pinks and purples - my doona, pillows, frames, lamp, tissue box, hell! even my boom box is pink (thanks larla!). I have butterflies all over and The Bratz accessories where i can get away with it. So that's definitely me - i like matching things (although nate the hottie doesn't recommend to have everything match). I'm obviously girly - you only have to visit my blog to figure out how sickeningly girly i am.

my room isn't all that organized. Some people are deceived by the systematic order of my desk and the perpetually made up bed. If u look around it seems that everything's in order.. but if you pull open some of the drawers there are piles of unorganized paper, misplaced pen caps and such. That's much like my life too. On the surface everything's fine.. but if u probe deeper you'll see that things aren't as okay as i make them out to be. The problem with trying to sort out your drawers (and so it goes with your life as well) is that there some things that you just cannot fnd a place for. Things that you rarely use but just couldn't bear to throw away in the hopes that you'd find a use for it someday. In example.. inside my last drawer.. i found old diskette jackets (i mean.. i don't even use floppy disks anymore!) a rolled up ball of blu tack and the casing of my old mobile. Much like my hang ups it just clutters up my life.. but it's still there.. waiting to be chucked in the bin.

Most importantly, my bedroom is MINE. I've always had to share a room before.. and i love having a place to claim as my own. Slowly filling it in with things that shape my life and define who i am. You'll find heaps of pictures of my family in my room, which only goes to show how much i love and value them. I also have albums and albums filled with memories, knick knacks from my recent past and correspondence from good friends - which gives me an anchor to my life back home. and of course there's a crucifix and the rosary from the vatican my mum gave me to give me spiritual guidance and strength when i find that i am lacking it. And my life now.. well.. for the first time in a long time... i'm living my life just the way i want to live it. I live for me and not for anyone else.. but i'll always have a place in my life for my family, friends, and Kuya Jess +dwtl 46+. my room and i have a long way to go.. but there's no real rush.. afterall.. our rooms and our lives are there to be enjoyed - not obsessed with.

i'm always on the verge of going somewhere else. Not one to settle, i've lived in 7 cities, 4 countries.. and well.. i intend to keep on counting. i live for travelling, shopping, making my parents proud, going to the beach, hanging out with people as insane as i am, boozing and ummm.. having the freedom to be the occasional bum
