On being a cook, a diva and a bride
on being a cook, a diva and a bride
RACHAEL RAY - I AM NOT
I am no cook. Never have been. If you're from the Philippines, you'll understand why I never learned. If you're not.. DON't ASK. But I reiterate. I do no cook.
My flatmates are fully aware of this fact. They have very wisely delegated me to be the official dishwasher and table setter just as long as I stay clear when they are cooking. My flatmates can go to the kitchen without a recipe and whip up something edible and yum.
I, on the other hand, fail miserably whenever I try.
Rice (ever since our 2 rice cookers conked out at the same time) turn to congee.
Lemon chicken just becomes slightly syrupy sweet semi-naked chicken
Steaks become uber well done.
Pork.. well.. you get the point.
It amuses me though that whenever I set the plates down in front of my starving flatties they praise me to no end saying that my (non existent) cooking skills are 'improviing'. Although we all very well know that I AM NOT. You should see how sweet they are when they are trying not to gag or spit out the food in front of me.
Of late though, I have been forced to cook. Since I am a bum and have all the time in the world and they have jobs.. I have been volunteering to cook. It's a no win situation. I feel like an utter failure and they have to eat my inedible concoctions while honing their acting skills. I am not giving up though. I am going to learn to cook if it kills me (or at least till one of my flatmates (victims) choke on what I serve them.
AM I DIVA ENOUGH?!
I got a call yesterday for a job interview for DIVA (one of the gajillion accessory shops here). Larla and I decided I needed to dress like them so I did. Time to channel Jessica Alba. This is all we could come up with: (paparazzi shot of course)

WHEN I WED...
I have a new addiction/obsession. I have been trolling the sites of wedding photographers and videographers, designers, wedding planners, bakers, caterers.. etc.
First I stumbled upon a wedding photographer's blog and I looked at endless wedding albums of random people (i swear I am no stalker.. I am just a wedding junkie).. and then I started dreaming of my own.. and started considering the tedious details that a (my) wedding entails.
I am pathetic. I know. I don't even have a groom yet nor am I remotely ready to get married. But that doesn't mean I can't start dreaming about it, does it?!! (Ok.. maybe it does.. but I have nothing better to do, so piss off!)
So just in case I forget the details I have decided on when the time actually comes .. (if it does come).. I am logging it on here.
The wedding photographers that have made me fall in love with weddings are Mimi and Karl of Fotogra. They take such romantic and breathtaking pictures. They make all the weddings they photograph look magical and perfect. I have exhausted their galleries of slideshows and pictures. I even cried watching one of the presentations (I know. Wierd. I had NO idea who the newly weds were.. but the wedding was documented sooo perfectly..)
I also like Dino Lara. His pictures are artistic and gorgeous too.
Also.. I have swooned over Jason Magabanua's on site videos. I definitely think it's a brilliant idea and his videos are so professional and it's just awesome. Needless to say, I have also watched whatever was in his gallery of videos and I just looooove his work.
I have also drooled over Judy Uson 'The Cake Artist's masterpieces. They look heavenly and I'm sure they taste just wonderful as well.
As for the gown.. Monique Lhuillier or Vera Wang, anyone? I know they are ludicrously expensive. But hey! This is my Dream Wedding. So don't rain on my parade! I am loving these looks:
I think I am definitely going to hire a wedding planner/coordinator so I don't turn into a bridezilla. Which one?! I'll get vack to you on that.
As for the other details.. I am still mulling over them. I have a lot more years to obsess over them. But for now.. I shall continue swooning over other people's weddings and dreaming of my own.
That's all tonight! I have to go spy on other people's weddings now!
ps. all wedding links are in my blog roll for better stalking/spying purposes
